The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is a bilateral free trade agreement between Canada and the European Union (EU) that eliminates or substantially reduces tariffs, trade barriers, and regulatory obstacles to facilitate cross-border commerce. Provisionally applied since September 2017, CETA creates one of the world’s largest integrated markets, covering approximately 500 million EU citizens and 38 million Canadians. The agreement encompasses goods, services, investment, government procurement, intellectual property rights, and regulatory cooperation, fundamentally reshaping logistics and supply chain operations between these trading partners.
